Kol

Voice — the sound, testimony, and call that carries who you are.

קוֹל

KOHL

Biblical Meaning

Kol is voice and sound: the call of God, the testimony of a life, and the sound that carries truth into a room. Scripture opens with God speaking creation into being — the kol precedes the work.

Historical Context

In Hebrew thought the voice carries authority and identity. God creates by speaking, calls the prophets by voice, and the "still small voice" (kol demamah) speaks to Elijah. To have a kol is to have a testimony worth carrying.

Scripture

"And God said (the kol of God), Let there be light, and there was light."

— Genesis 1:3

"And after the fire a still small voice (kol demamah dakkah)."

— 1 Kings 19:12

"A voice (kol) crying in the wilderness: Prepare the way of the LORD."

— Isaiah 40:3
Practical Application

Your voice is your testimony. Steward the sound you make — in music, in speech, in the room. Let what you carry into a space reflect who God has called you to be.
