Chazon

Vision — the prophetic sight to name and carry what God has shown you.

Biblical Meaning

Chazon is prophetic vision: sight given by God, not merely human ambition. It is the revelation a builder receives and is then responsible to carry, record, and pursue with patience.

Historical Context

When the prophet Habakkuk received a vision, God told him to write it plainly on tablets so that a runner could carry it. Vision in Scripture was never private inspiration; it was a commissioned message meant to be recorded and pursued over the long horizon.

Scripture

"Write the vision (chazon); make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it. For still the vision awaits its appointed time."

— Habakkuk 2:2-3

"Where there is no vision (chazon), the people cast off restraint."

— Proverbs 29:18

"The word of the LORD was rare in those days; there was no frequent vision (chazon)."

— 1 Samuel 3:1
Practical Application

Before chasing any outcome, clarify your calling and cast a long-horizon vision. Write it plainly enough that others can run with it. Rebuild identity in Christ before you build anything else.
